Colombian Police intimidates farmers in their own houses, throws gas and breaks their windows. This happens when Colombian farmers peacefully ask for dignity for their labors as prices of agricultural inputs are secretly arranged and much higher than in the rest of the region as well as transportation costs due to the highest fuel cost in the region. Government insists in national media that nothing is happening and tries to shut people up by non-honest means.

Thousands of Farmers from all around the country are blocking around 37 national roads and it seems that soon will be arriving Bogotá. Many economic sectors have joined the strike, such as milk producers, transporters, students, miners, and citizens who live in medium and small cities. Even though the government wants to hide the facts and challenged the farmers by saying their protests are not as big as he expected, the situation has become the worst in years only after 5 days of strikes.

Farmers say, and there are videos and photos in social networks, that show infiltrated colombian police breaking windows and creating disturbs in order to make the peaceful strikes look as vandalism and spoil their justified manifestations.

Colombian excessive centralism makes Bogotá, the city where 20% of Colombian population lives, the center of media management and political — economic decisions which, as farmers and others protestors say, are threatening their life’s dignity to the point that most of them are broken as production costs overcome incomes.
Colombia is nowadays one of the most unequal countries in the world, part of it due to centralism and central distribution of public investments.

A similar strike, but only from farmers of the region Catatumbo, lasted 53 days.
Human rights violations were veryfied by UN (United Nations)’ DDHH. . The Colombian government inmediatly reacted by saying UN’s inform was unreal and decided not to continue having a UN’s DDHH office in Colombia.
